The Seasteading Institute (San Francisco) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of French Polynesia to pool their efforts for the implementation of a pilot project for floating islands in French Polynesia. The development of floating infrastructure and sea zones in French Polynesia might also benefit existing island communities by:
Catalyzing innovation in the food, energy, waste, and water sectors
Mitigating hazards associated with sea level rise and storms
Contributing to the smart and connected coastal communities of the future
To explore these possibilities, we hold workshops and working meetings bringing together local and international researchers and engineers with representatives of the Seasteading Institute.
